Our Projects
· We implemented a company-wide Management Operating System (MOS) that helped align the organization from the C-Suite to front-end supervision. The system included a detailed value driver tree that was integrated with the company’s ERP to provide real-time analytics on the KPIs that were linked to production and cost performance. The system, along with the implementation of visual management, resulted in a 17% increase in tonnes moved and a 12% reduction in mining costs per tonne.
· We partnered with a state-owned copper producer to optimize plant performance. The project led to the development of operational recipes for high running clusters of mineral types. Mill operators evolved from making changes to control setting based on a gut feeling to following operational parameters developed through detailed operational analytics. The change led to an increase in recovery of 4%. Each percent increase resulted in a dollar impact of $18.5M for a total annualized benefit of $74M.
· Solara was contracted to optimize the mobile maintenance function of a large US based gold producer. We worked with the client to implement an effective planning and scheduling process that was linked to the operation’s CMMS. We helped develop a management system that focused on the effective use of work-orders and front-end supervision. The system also tied in best practices in procurement to buy better and spend better. The result was an increase of 8% in truck fleet availability and a reduction in maintenance costs of $14M.
